2010 Spring Sale

Start times announced for the spring clinic and updates for the Friday clinic!!!

The Mid-West Hackney Association will be conducting a spring sale in 2010 and the dates are April 30th and May 1. It will again be held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois in the Livestock Center Arena.

We are again accepting consignments of Hackney, Welsh, Shetland and ASPR and the form to consign will be listed on another page on this website under "Forms to Download".

We have a large demand for quality tack and equipment as well as carts, so if you have items to sell, bring them to the Mid-West Hackney tack sale on Saturday morning,

May 1. The tack sale will begin at 8:00 am and items must be checked in by 7:45 am as we will not accept anything after that time. You may also check in tack on Friday, April 30th.

Larry Bacon will be conducting a clinic on Friday about bits and proper use of bits. Larry has an extensive collection of bits and this clinic will be an excellent opportunity to learn "everything you ever wanted to know about bits". If you have bits that you are unsure of how to use properly, bring them along to the clinic as this will be a "hands-on" type of clinic with plenty of time for questions from the audience. Motion, balance, headset all hinge on the proper use of the bit and this will be an excellent opportunity to ask your questions of one of the all-time great trainers!

In addition, Rick Medd will be on hand to do an additional segment to this clinic geared to the questions horse and pony owners have on shoeing. Rick has done numerous clinics for farriers, but this will be a new twist on that topic and deal with questions that owners have that might not have the access to a top-notch farrier or for those that do their own shoeing, but want to learn more.

We will NOT be taping this clinic, so plan to attend and bring along your list of questions. This will be a wonderful opportunity to gain information on two important topics for those showing horses or ponies from a couple of the best in the business!

The clinic will begin at 6 pm on Friday, April 30th and Mid-West Hackney will be serving their annual buffet dinner after the clinic ends.

Mid-West Hackney has been a consistent leader in offering quality stock for sale on it's pony sales and whether you are looking for a finished show pony, futurity eligible young stock or breeding stock, Mid-West offers ponies from some of the finest stables in the country. Please request a sale catalog if you feel you may not be included on our mailing list. The sale catalog will be out about 10 days before the sale, but as usual, we will list all consignments on this website as soon as they start coming in. We also hope to have the entire sale catalog available on line for this sale. Closing date for consignments to appear in the sale catalog is March 31, but any ponies received after that time will be listed on the website and in a sale supplement.

The pony sale will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, May 1st and we will also be running our silent auction during the sale. We welcome items that you would like to donate for the silent auction and you can either send them ahead of time to the Mid-West Hackney Association or bring them to the sale. We would like a "heads up" on what items you are bringing so that they can be advertised on this website. We already have some interesting things donated, so let us know if you are able to bring an item.
